Mrs. Shimenenge Esther Kyaagba is a health development specialist with over 40 years working experience in management of health programs and provision of health services at the state, local government and community levels.
Her valuable experience cuts across provision of reproductive health issues, maternal neonatal and child health services, health planning, management and policy issues, project management and program coordination. Other skills are: Facilitation skills (trainings, workshops, meeting), Report writing skills; Consultancy skills. She is proficient in computer applications, capacity building and mentorship of staff and Volunteers.
She has demonstrable capacities in preparation of State strategic Health Development Plans, annual plans and budget, co-ordination of Human Resources for Health, Health Management Information Systems (HMIS) and state Integrated Supportive Supervision (ISS) reports. She is proficient in patient care, project management, contract processing and management, capacity building and mentorship, supervision, monitoring and evaluation, procurement processes aligned with stipulated guidelines and best practices, consultancy and research skills. She has engaged in multi-partner collaboration and co-coordination, and have partnered with a range of development partners, local and international NGOs, and state ministries, departments and agencies.
She is specialized in the areas of Programme Management, development and review of training manuals and guidelines lines, particularly in health and social protection, and has a special interest in the promotion of citizen voice and health freedoms. She is excellent in facilitation and communication skills and interpersonal relations. She has a fantastic understanding of the experiential learning model and ability to design, adapt and use a wide range of participatory training and evaluation methods as well as other changes in management and human development tools.
She also has a progressive experience in development work as a Chairperson BENGONET (Network) Rural Development Initiative, Executive Director Federation of Female Nurses and Midwives (FENAM) and Women’s Health, Empowerment and Peace Initiative (WOHEPI). Spanning co-coordination of activities and projects such as UN Women Skills acquisition Empowerment Program, Menstrual Hygiene Management Program, PMTCT, community mobilization and awareness creation on GBV, training of trainers, Maternal and child health week, System Strengthening Project by Family Reproductive Health Association, Challenge TB Program, Malaria Project, Control of Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs), Advocacy and Community Mobilization, Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health Week Programs and Integration of WASH and NTD activities at community levels. State Master trainer for Frontline Health Worker, Trainer of Trainers for Mother Infant and Young Child Nutrition and Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition.
Education: She has a Masters of Arts Degree in Health Management, Planning and Policy from University of Leeds, United Kingdom in 1998 and B.SC Nursing Sciences (2nd class upper) at University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1992. I became a registered Nurse and Midwife in 1982/86 and sat for WASCE in 1977. I am certified in Basic health Provisional Fund training, COVID 19 training, Peace and conflict mediation, Advance Project Management and Procurement of Goods; Procurement & Financial Management; Leadership and Management; Budget planning in crisis situation; Learning and Documentation; Computer Applications; Management Consulting, Local Resource Mobilization and in HIV&AIDS Counseling.
Shimenenge Kyaagba is an intellectual colossus, a management expert, a human and material resource specialist and manager, an excellent communicator, a great mobilizer, a workaholic, a commanding voice in the void and a lady whose presence and voice evoke respect, awe, admiration and fear. She is an asset to Benue State and the nation as a whole.
She is married to Mr. Hyacinth Aondover Kyaagba and the marriage is blessed with one child.
